The Navy Gold Star Program is eternally grateful for the sacrifice of those Service Members who have died in service to our country. Maurice Levon Ray was born on May 21, 1985 in Raleigh, NC. He resided in in Greenville, Mauldin, and Dacusville, SC, graduating in 2004 from Berea High School in Greenville. He lettered in basketball, football, and track and was also elected School Vice President in his senior year. Maurice attended Auburn University for two years before enlisting in the Navy in 2006 where he continued to pursue his college education at Southern Illinois University. He was posthumously was awarded his Bachelor of Science degree in December 2012. Maurice joined the Navy to become a doctor. During his tenure as a Navy Corpsman, he was stationed at Bethesda Naval Hospital (MD) and Camp Lejeune (NC). Maurice loved traveling and meeting new people, as well as videos games, snowboarding, scuba diving, any extreme sports, motorcycles, and his cat, Tiffany. Maurice is remembered by his mother and stepfather, Ginger Ray Tadlock and William Ray Tadlock.
